Kyung Hee University was founded in 1949 by Dr. Young Seek Choue, whose founding philosophy was “Toward a New Civilization.” The university will celebrate its anniversary in two years. Kyung Hee University has established an academic tradition that combines education, research, and practice while pursuing the universal values of peace and mutual prosperity. Since its foundation, Kyung Hee University has spearheaded the Global Common Society Movement, established the International Association of University Presidents and the United Nations International Day of Peace, received the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education, and organized the 1999 Seoul International Conference of NGOs. Moving toward the betterment of future civilization, the university will further strengthen its status as one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
